May Quarterly Pooling Tip

Keeping PAS Up to Date for the Switch Information on Pooled CO Codes

As a reminder, per section 6.3.1 of the Central Office Code (NXX) Assignment Guidelines (COCAG):

6.3.1      Information Changes

The information associated with a code assignment may change over time.  Such changes may occur, for example, because of the transfer of a code to a different company.  The CO Code Administrator must be notified of any changes to the information in Part 1 of the CO Code (NXX) Assignment Request Form.  This includes changes such as, but not limited to, the tandem homing arrangement, OCN, switching entity/POI and rate center.

Failure to notify the PA of changes to the switch information on a pooled code in PAS will result with the following question “Is Block being allocated back to the Code Holder on the switch where the NXX Code Resides?” on the Part 1B form to be flagged incorrectly when blocks are being allocated back to the code holder.

To submit a Code Modification for a pooled code directly in PAS, refer to section 5.3.4 of the PAS Service Provider and Service Provider Consultant User Guide located on the PA’s website at www.nationalpooling.com under “Documents”.

To submit a Code Modification for 50 or more codes (for both pooled and non-pooled), refer to the NAS Mass Modify Spreadsheet located on NANPA’s website at https://nationalnanpa.com/tools/nasUser_guide.html.
