CO Code Assignment Preference

The Thousands-Block (NPA-NXX-X) & Central Office Code (NPA-NXX) Administration Guidelines (TBCOCAG) were reissued this past Friday, 9/24/2021.

As a result of INC Issue 915, “Update TBCOCAG Language Regarding NANPA’s Handling of Unavailable Code Assignment Preferences”, the process for completing the Part 1 fields regarding CO Code assignment preferences and Undesirable CO Codes, and how NANPA shall proceed with the application when the CO Code preference(s) is unavailable for assignment has been updated.

When completing the Part 1 in PAS or NAS, if the Applicant provides a CO Code Assignment Preference in Section 1.4 c) on the Part 1, the Applicant shall also indicate any undesirable CO Codes in Section 1.4 d) Codes that are Undesirable, if any. When the only desired CO Code is the one listed in Section 1.4 c) Code Assignment Preference, the Applicant shall also enter “All other codes” in Section 1.4 d) Codes that are Undesirable, if any.
